Monday, November 6th: 
It's Grammar Week!

This week is focusing on grammar: 
Vocabulary Unit 3, #1 – 10 is assigned and will be due on Wednesday, November 8th.
Assigned today: “How to Revise Run-on Sentences”; it can be found on the test section of schoology. It is the last assignment. 

Tuesday, November 7th:

Please do exercise 22, #1 – 10, and exercise 23, #1 – 20
Please correct those sentences that have run-ons, using the methods shown. Those sentences that are correct, simply write correct.
Then submit to schoology by tonight – maybe……

Comma Splice: It occurs when two sentences are joined together with a comma. A comma cannot join two sentences together. Two sentences can only be joined with a semi-colon (;).

Comma Splice: Edgar Allan Poe’s stories are thrilling, Agatha Christie’s stories are more realistic.
Corrected: Edgar Allan Poe’s stories are thrilling; Agatha Christie’s stories are more realistic.
Corrected: Edgar Allan Poe’s stories are thrilling. Agatha Christie’s stories are more realistic.
Corrected: Edgar Allan Poe’s stories are thrilling, but Agatha Christie’s stories are more realistic.
Corrected: Edgar Allan Poe’s stories are thrilling; however, Agatha Christie’s stories are more realistic.

Please remember that your Vocabulary, Unit 3, #1 – 10 will be due tomorrow, Wednesday, November 8th.

Please be sure to submit your paragraphs 1 – 13 to schoology; then, submit the finished rough draft to turnitin.com
Handout: Run-on Sentences
Please do Exercise 22, sentences 1 - 10 and learn about Eleanor Roosevelt!!!!
Please do Exercise 23, sentences 1 - 20 and learn about raccoons!!!!
Rewrite each sentence correcting the run-ons. If the sentence is correct, then you may write "Correct as is".

Wednesday, November 8th:  
Your Unit 3 Vocabulary #1 - 10 is due today.
Continue working on your final draft.
Even if you have turned in your rough draft to turnitin.com, you still must turn in your paragraphs. Each one is worth 100 points.

Thursday, November 9th: 
Continue working on your final draft
Remember: you still have to turn in your paragraphs even if you have submitted your rough draft to turnitin.com.

Friday, November 10th: 
Continue working on your paragraphs - which are now very late!
Incorporate the corrections on your paragraph to your rough draft. 
Continue working on your rough draft.
Start working on your final draft.
Work on your Vocabulary Unit 3, #1-10
Work on your grammar:
Revising Run-ons - this can be found on schoology and must be submitted through schoology
