Term Effects of Abuse: Asthma
“One of the unseen long term effects of having an abusive or
chaotic childhood are the increased health issues. In a longitudinal study that
was conducted, adults who had suffered abuse as children were tracked over
their lifetime. Those adults had a
50% increase of asthma over that population that had not suffered abuse.”
Paraphrase/Explanation:
According to pediatrician Nadine Burke Harris, those people
who have suffered abuse have long term serious health issues, such as asthma,
which can continue all throughout their lives. There is a 50% increase in these health issues in the
population of abused children over the rest of the population which have not
suffered abuse. The long term
effects of child abuse can last a life time and in unexpected ways.
Minimum of thirty-five note cards.
Please submit them in “batches of five”. There will be seven assignment boxes in
schoology. Please submit five note cards per assignment box.
If your research paper is an argument, then included in the thirty-five note cards should be evidence supporting the counter claim to your thesis.
